After reaching the highest post-Covid era capacity levels in mid-April (104.2 million planned seats) and dropping numbers in May, global capacity is rising again, with 98.9 million scheduled seats, a 35% increase over June 2021 and a startling 146% rise over June 2020.
Africa‘s capacity has been stagnant since May, but it is now back on the rise, with 2.9 million weekly scheduled seats. This is a 45% increase over June 2021 and a staggering 292% increase over June 2020.
Asia saw a large drop in May, with data rebounding in June, after peaking in mid-April with 38.4 million scheduled seats. It currently has 34.3 million scheduled seats, which is a 19% increase from June 2021 and a 50% increase from June 2020.
Europe’s capacity figures have been growing since the beginning of May, reaching the highest levels in the post-Covid era at the end of June, with 28.0 million seats scheduled. This marks a 78% increase over the same period last year and a staggering 373% increase over June 2020.
Following a considerable drop after hitting a peak in mid-April, North America‘s capacity levels stagnated in May but are rising at the end of June. Currently, North America has 26.5 million scheduled seats, a 20% increase over June 2021 and a huge 182% increase over June 2020.
Oceania‘s capacity has also decreased since peaking in mid-April, with 2.2 million planned seats currently available. This is a 26% increase over the same period last year and a whopping 300% increase over June 2020 figures.
South America’s capacity remained stable in May, with currently 4.79 million seats scheduled. Compared to the same period last year, we see a 68% increase and an incredible 675% increase compared to June 2020.
Based on the passenger data we’ve gathered, we’ve compiled a list of the Top 25 airlines worldwide with the highest load factors for April 2022. Allegiant Air leads the list with a load factor of 85.00% while Sideral Linhas Aéreas is at the bottom, with just 3%.
